Senses

Thursday 25 Feb 2016 13:42pm

This week the children have been learning about the 5 senses. The children have had the opportunity to touch with their hands, listen with their ears, taste with their mouths, look with their eyes and smell with their noses.

They have been busy cutting up different herbs to work on their fine motor skills. The children have enjoyed smelling how the different herbs smell.

The children were able to taste lots of different foods this week. They tried prawn crackers, salt and vinegar crisps, salsa, ranch dressing, mango chutney, golden syrup and lots more! Once they had tried the food they enjoyed talking about what they liked and didn't like to eat.

During circle time the children have used their ears to listen to everyday sounds. They have enjoyed guessing what each sound is.

We have hidden some objects in cardboard boxes this week and asked the children not to use their eyes to look what is it but to use their hands to touch. They were very good at guessing the different objects! They also enjoyed describing what the different objects felt like.
