Our Amazing Invertebrate Inn!

What a fantastic day! To celebrate all of our hardwork this half term, and to explore our minibeasts topic even further, we have enjoyed a cross curricular day full of outdoor learning.
We were very lucky to have Mr Stinson visiting to help us to create a microhabitat for the minibeasts in our school garden. We learnt lots more about minibeasts including their bodies and what they eat (which is how we named their home an Invertebrate Inn). We also found out lots about food chains.
It was also great to have different activities inside the classroom relating to our topic. Each group developed their skills and learning in science, art and English. We observed the bean plants that we have been growing and discussed why some were growing faster than others. We also explored colour and pattern by making a Pointilist painting inspired by The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle. Finally, we wrote fantastic narrative poems based on Superworm by Julia Donaldson.
Talk to your children about our day and enjoy looking at some of the great pictures.
Well done everyone!
