Snails

Monday 08 May 2017 19:17pm

What a truly wonderful experience we had meeting the snails! Mrs Thompson borrowed the Giant African Land Snails from her son's nursery. We named them, 'Slither and Slime'. We received a letter from the nursery asking for us to research the snails and write fact files so the preschool children could learn more about them. We learnt lots of interesting facts including these:
- Snails are both male and female.
- Their slimy body is actually called a 'foot'.
- They are deaf but they can feel the vibrations made by sound.
- They originate from Africa but can now be found all around the world.

Lots of us were incredibly brave and held the fascinating creatures.
This week we will write letters to Frankie's nursery to thank them and explain how we felt holding them.
Take a lot at our pictures.
Would you like to hold one?
