Anglo Saxon Workshop

Friday 08 May 2015 23:00pm

Yesterday Year 3 went to Wakefield One for an Anglo Saxon workshop. We were joined by Sam the Dog as our attendance was the best in school last week. Also, Mrs Jackson came with us too! Firstly, we walked to Sandal Agbrigg train station. Our train ride was only about 3 minutes long, but we all enjoyed it anyway! Sam the Dog sat with Aaron and Aryan.

When we got to Wakefield One we were met by our workshop leader, Louise. She was dressed as an Anglo Saxon! We sat down and talked about the things we knew about Anglo Saxon life. The children impressed Louise with all their knowledge! Then we were put into different families, each having different jobs. We used big sheets of paper to draw an Anglo Saxon village with 8 houses, 4 fields, a woodland and a river.

Next, the children participated in some role play activities to do some problem solving. Alex and Zainab dressed up as Anglo Saxon children. Mr Carver had to dress as a bailiff just in case there were any problems between the families. Luckily, there were none! Finally, we made our own riddles to give to our class. Everyone had a wonderful afternoon!
