Celebrating for the Queen!
Friday 10 Jun 2016 18:55pm
Today, we all came dressed in our party clothes to celebrate our Queen's 90th birthday this weekend. All of the children made a fantastic effort and came suitably dressed. This morning, we split the class into 2 groups. One group stayed in Year 3 and were joined by half of Year 6. The other group went up to work with the remaining Year 6 children for the morning. We firstly talked about the Queen and what we knew about her, then found some new facts about her. We then talked about her family and split into small groups to make a family tree of the Royal family. The children worked superbly together and created some excellent family trees.
At lunchtime we went to the playground to have a street party. We ate sandwiches, party buns and ice cream. We waved our flags and had a great time. Thankfully the weather stayed dry! Later in the afternoon we had a special collective worship where we watched a live news stream from Windsor Castle. We finished by all singing the national anthem. I am sure the Queen would have been very proud!
