Our visit To Magna Science Adventure Centre
Wednesday 13 Apr 2016 23:00pm
Year 3 have been looking forward to this day for a while! We teamed up with year 4 and went to Magna Science Centre in Rotherham. This visit was to help inspire our new topic, 'Wild Weather'. When we arrived the children were amazed at the size of the old steel works, and we were met by an ex steel worker called John. We were excited to learn we were the only school to visit today!
The first thing we experienced was the history of steel, and the children immediately noticed the link with our last topic, World War Two. As we walked through the old steel works, we could hear sounds from the past and see things that people used to do. We used the search lights to find our way around.
There were 4 main areas to visit. These were earth, fire, water and air. Some of the highlights included the fire tornado, the wind tunnel, using a digger and getting very wet exploring water! There were so many other exciting activities we experienced. The children had so much fun and learnt a lot of new things we that can help us with our topic. Their behaviour was excellent and they were all a credit to our school. Thank you to Mrs Sketchley, Mrs Swailes, Mrs Pratt, Mrs Clifton, Mrs Ahmed and Mr Johnson for all your hard work.
