Perimeter in the playground

Today we investigated perimeter. First we had a treasure hunt around the classroom where we had to find and calculate the perimeter for the given shapes from NRICH. Lots of us found this tricky. After Mrs Thompson showed us another example, we purple penned our findings and understood better that perimeter is the length of the outside of the shape.

After that, we went outside to investigate further. Mrs Thompson demonstrated how we could make a square with a perimeter of 4m. Then we worked collaboratively to create shapes with different given perimeters.
