Shape fun in maths!
Thursday 18 Feb 2016 20:23pm
This week we have been having lots of fun working with 2D and 3D shapes. On Monday we created our own 2D shapes such as isosceles and parallelograms and wrote about their properties. On Tuesday we begun learning about the properties of 3D shapes. The children drew shapes such as cubes, cuboids and square based pyramids. They then found out how many faces, vertices and edges they had.
Yesterday the children worked in pairs to create models of cubes and pyramids using art straws and blue-tac. They firstly had to measure and cut equal pieces for their edges. When this had been done the challenge was to make them into a strong 3D shape. All of the children worked collaboratively and with enthusiasm. It was a really fun lesson! Here

are some pictures for you to enjoy....
