Shape fun with art straws!

Today, Year 3 enjoyed a fun, practical and hands - on maths lesson! We used our knowledge of 3D shapes to create a real life model using art straws and blu - tac. The children had to use many different skills to be able to do this. The main one was collaboration , as they worked in pairs for the activity. Once the pairs decided which shape to make, they had to measure and cut the pieces which were to become the edges. They then used blu - tac for the vertices. It was fabulous to see the variety of shapes created, including square - based pyramids and cuboids. It was a really enjoyable lesson. Well done Year 3.
