Spending time with Sam the Dog

Friday 15 Sep 2017 17:51pm

It has been another wonderful week in Year 3. Our guest has been Sam the Dog, as we had the best attendance in school last week. He has been busy helping the children in all of their lessons. In English this week, we have been writing different things about our Egyptian adventure story. The focus has been on the characters and the setting, using interesting adjectives and commas accurately. We have also been practising our dictionary skills in our brand new dictionaries the children received in Year 2. Mr Carver has been very impressed with the handwriting and presentation of many of the children in their writing.

In maths, everyone has been learning about 2 and 3 digit place value. Sam found working with hundreds difficult at times, but he used place value cards and base 10 equipment to help him. We have been using these skills to solve problems and challenges. Everyone has risen to the challenge. Other activities Sam has enjoyed this week include designing and Egyptian mask, playing dodgeball in P.E, learning about magnets in science and baking with Mrs Clifton.

The week ended with more good news, as we won class of the week and the top table reward for our lunchtime behaviour. Well done to Kucci and Wiktoria for their special mentions this week. Keep up the good work everyone and let's try and have Sam back in our class soon.
