York Visit

Wednesday 10 Jun 2015 23:00pm

Today Year 3 and 4 went on a trip to York to help us learn about our new topic. We were very lucky as the weather was so amazing! We were dropped off by the coach at Clifford's Tower and we made our way towards York Minster. As we walked, we looked at the historical buildings we passed. The children loved the streets of York and we talked about how different it was to Wakefield.

We couldn't believe how huge and beautiful the Minster was. It seemed to go right up to the sky! Then we all sat down on the grass next to the Mister and drew what we could see. Some children drew a scetch of the whole of the Minster, others focused on a small part of it, such as the stained glass windows. There were some incredible pictures and artwork. After we left the Minster, we all stopped for a delicious ice cream at a shop nearby. They told us that they had never sold 66 ice creams at once before!

We walked to the Museum Gardens next to the River Ouse. As we arrived we saw some birds of prey. There were owls, falcons and kestrels. Then it was time for lunch. Everybody was really hungry after our busy morning! After lunch we palyed with skipping ropes and tennis balls. Unfortunately, then it was time to head back to the coaches to go back to school. All the childern were very well behaved and we all had an excellent day. Our trip will really help us with our topic work over the next few weeks.
