A practical, hands on world

Over the last few days, we have been hands - on scientists, building a circuit to make a bulb light. We had a great time checking how a switch works and building on our understanding of the responsibilities and safety considerations that sit with having access to electricity. Now that we understand how a switch works, we will be investigating different materials and which can be used to make a switch. It could be a light bulb moment!
In addition, we tried to build an igloo out of milk containers using sticky tape. None of us were particularly successful, but we had great fun and honed our teamwork skills. At least we now have lots of sympathy with the Inuits. We cannot imagine having to build a shelter from blocks of ice in freezing, harsh conditions.
