A week to celebrate
Friday 25 Sep 2015 15:16pm
We were very pleased to welcome SAM to our class this week as we had an attendance score of 97.24%. He picked a great week to join us as 6 of us, including Mrs Sketchley, celebrated their birthdays and we had extra fun activities whilst some children were celebrating Eid with their families.
On Monday, SAM helped us to classify organisms into mammals, reptiles, insects, birds and fish. We also learned that they can be warm blooded or cold blooded. He wondered which category he fits into?
On Tuesday, we had a real treat. We learned all about composting, the things that can be composted, the things that should be recycled and the things that need to go to landfill. With the teacher's help, we even made our own wormeries from milk bottles, sand and compost. We need to look at the again in a few weeks' time. We wonder how they will look. The excitement continued when we took SAM swimming. He sat and watched the children with two of us who weren't able to swim.. He thinks that Cameron and Kashif are especially good at splashing!
On Wednesday, we were busy finalising our Egyptian Death Mask designs in DT. Sam had a go but hopes he won't need his for a very long time!
Of course, many children were not at school on Thursday and Friday, but we had a great time mixed with Year 3 in Maths with Mrs Sketchley and being challenged by times table snap and bingo, describing a 2d shape and finding the lines of symmetry, building a 3d shape and telling the time to o'clock, quarter to/past and half past before looking at time addition and subtraction. Mr Carver lead some exciting writing and we did some research for our Egyptians topic and enjoyed a PE carousel, playing warm up games and being challenged by sit ups, burpees, press ups and star jumps. It's not surprising we are tired and ready for the weekend. Have a lovely time and see you on Tuesday. (Monday is an INSET day, so don't worry if you see Mrs Sketchley or the other teachers at school.)
