Anglo Saxon news

We had a fantastic afternoon with Louise from the Wakefield Museum Service. Thanks to her, we learned that some surnames such as Fletcher come from the trade of arrow making. Can you guess where Butcher comes from?
With Louise's guidance, we planned an Anglo Saxon village thinking carefully about where various families might live or work according to their trade. We learned about crop rotation, bartering, sending messages and punishing offenders.
Look at the photos. Which do you think shows punishing someone in the stocks? Sohaib WAS a willing volunteer until he discovered that mouldy fruit might be thrown at him!
Happy New Year to you and all your families. Thanks for your continued support.
Mrs Sketchley, Mrs Skolas and Mrs Ahmed.
