Evaporation and effort

I

Our states of matter work continued when Mrs Sketchley asked us to dry her washing in the school grounds!  We tried hard to do a comparative test by saturating three flannels with the same volume of water, weighing them and then hanging them out to dry in three different sites around school.

Much to our surprise, the flannel in the shed with no wind, stayed wet and sodden and with the largest mass, whilst the one in the playground benefitting from sun and breeze was virtually dry and lost an astounding 100 +g of water.  We now know that the process is called evaporation.

We enjoyed taking science outside and Mrs Sketchley was pleased her washing dried!

A tiring afternoon.

After school on Thursday some of us joined in a football tournament at Sandal Castle School. We played against St James' and, although we lost 4 - 2, we had a great time and everyone thought we played a lot better than we did in our last game, so that gives us some encouragement.

One of our goals was a penalty scored by Jaydon  (you can see the ball hitting the back of the net in one of these photos) and our 2nd goal was scored in the last minute by Dominik, who won our player of the match certificate.

We're looking forward to our next match now which will be against the hosts, Sandal Castle, in June.
