Making history of our own

Year 4 went to the West Yorkshire History Archive last Thursday to learn about things that happened in Wakefield during the Second World War.  To our amazement, the centre even has things from Sandal Magna Infant and Junior School!  We discovered that the school had to build a shelter in the boys' playground and that the headteacher wrote a log on most days saying what had happened at the school.  We looked at copperplate writing and learned that one boy had been evacuated to Wakefield and then moved away again.  We wrote letters to him.  We had a great time.  Enjoy our pictures.......
