Souper Skills

Friday 05 Feb 2016 15:49pm

As part of our on-going work around World War Two, a group of budding chefs choose to limit their use of the ration book and, instead, to make soup from ingredients they had 'grown' in their allotments and back gardens.  Over the years, we have baked a lot of sweet things, using copious amounts of sugar, but as this was in short supply during and after the War, the children are beginning to develop a more savoury palette.  You can tell they think it is satisfying by the smiles on their faces!

Other than that, we have been developing our travel skills in PE by working on points and patches and painting a picture of the air raid warning sounding and hurrying to a cramped Anderson Shelter or Underground and then waiting for the relief of the all clear.  Mrs Sketchley has videoed our work and we will be sharing it at our outcome next half term.  Details to follow.

In addition, we have begun to make our patch work quilts and our air raid warden helmets.  All part of being safe and make do and mend.

I hope that is the theme for your holiday and that you all have a lovely time with your family.  See you in 10 days!
