Teething problems

Our science topic, Animals including Humans, took us on to teeth this week.  First we learned the four different types of teeth that humans have - namely incisors, canine, premolars and molars - and then looked at the different purposes that they serve.
Everyone understood that teeth have evolved over time and that different animals have different types of teeth due to their differing diets.
Homework this week, based on a great question from Anastasija is to choose an animal and then to research the type of teeth that it has and why it might need them based on its preferred diet.
By the end of the lesson, everyone seemed to understand that it's important to look after our teeth by brushing them regularly and by thinking about our food choices.  In fact everyone assured me that they cleaned their teeth in expert fashion at least twice a day.  So we put it to the test.
First everyone cleaned his or her teeth with a new toothbrush and toothpaste.  Then they sucked a disclosing tablet for 30 seconds and these were the results........
I wonder how well teeth will be cleaned this evening!?.....

In addition, as part of our Olympic topic, we had a sports morning when we held some mock 'Olympic' events on the school field.  Year 3 and Year 4 enjoyed a relay, javelin throwing, the shot put, a sack race and a three legged race.  Much fun was had by all and we even had bronze silver and gold medals for the winners.  Mums and Dads, regardless of whether your son or daughter received a medal, you can be proud that he or she really embraced the event in the spirit of Olympians through the ages and was a great sportsperson.

Finally, please could I remind everyone that they should bring a full OUTDOOR PE kit every Monday afternoon this term.  They need a change of shirt, PE shorts or leggings and trainers or other suitable sports shoes.  Sandals with open toes or toe posts are not suitable for PE.  As ever, thanks for your support.

Have a lovely, sun filled weekend.
