Disaster Day
Monday 09 Jan 2017 00:00am
On Monday, Year 5 and 6 were welcomed with the devastating news that a severe flood had occurred over the weekend and their role was to be a volunteer for The Red Cross. Straight after registration, they were led into the hall to receive their briefing and be split into teams. Each team was able to experience a range of training sessions over the course of the day. The sessions were emergency shelter building, water transportation and filtering, first aid, making a meal from emergency rations and creating an emergency appeal video. Year 5 were very professional during the day and learnt a lot from the experience. One child said "I wish we had more days like this!"
