Introduction from Mr Smith

Dear parents/carers,

I am writing to you to give some information about the coming term in school and the work we will be doing.

Firstly, I want to thank you for the excellent start to Year 5 at Sandal Magna. We have almost 100% attendance for the first week and I am really pleased with the fantastic attitude the children have come back to school with.

In the mornings, the children will be in mixed sets with myself, Miss Abernethy or Mrs Shepherd. In the afternoons, the children will be taught by myself, Miss Abernethy, Mrs Ward and Mrs Skolas. We hope it will be an exciting term with lots of different areas studied. Here is a guide to the topics we will be covering this half term.

 Topic (geography/history) – Stars and Stripes (a study of America)

Science- Earth and Space

Design Technology- Mechanism (designing a pulley system)

Music- American music- Jazz, blues, country music

PE- Football skills (Monday afternoon)

As well as this, we will be planning a Thanksgiving themed day based on the American tradition of Thanksgiving.
