Sam the Dog's 2nd Visit to Year 5

Thursday 16 Oct 2014 23:00pm

Year 5 have done it again!  Despite it being Eid on Monday, we managed to achieve the highest overall attendance last week.  To say a huge well done, Mrs Sennett arranged for Sam the Dog to come and visit us again this week.   Sam had a lovely day on Monday.  In the morning he walked to St Catherine's Church with us for our Harvest Festival celebration.   Then in the afternoon it was the art attendance reward for all the children in school that had achieved 100% attendance over the past three weeks.  Sam was extremely pleased with those 113 children, and agreed that for coming to school every day, they definitely deserved the reward of making lots of art and crafty things, including etching colourful football boots and door hangers, making wooden keys rings and painting tile fridge magnets.

On Friday, when all the children had gone home, Sam had a well deserved cup of tea with Miss Benning in the staff room, and told her that his three favourite lessons in Year 5 that week had been;
1. French, where he especially enjoyed listening to the French story 'Toutes Les Couleurs,'  as he said it really helped him to remember some colours in French, as he was a bit rusty on his colours!
2. Computing, because he learnt all about e-safety from Kara and the Smart Crew.  Sam said he was going to tell Sammy and his friends all the important things he learnt, and how they could all keep themselves safe when using the internet.
3. R.E, as he really enjoyed helping the children to research all about the 6 main religions of the world.  Sam said his Mum is really interested in other religions and their beliefs, and had taken some notes home to show her as he didn't think even she knew all of the facts that the girls and boys had found out about Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Judaism, Sikhism and Buddhism.
