Sport Leader Training

Wednesday 13 Apr 2016 13:58pm

Today, Mr Pearson from Kettlethorpe High School came to start training our class to be sports leaders. This is an exciting chance for us to learn how to run sporting events for the younger children at our school. The first thing we did was were given our sport leader books which we get to keep. Then we discussed the difference between skills and qualities. Skills are things that you can learn, such as dribbling a football and qualities are things you are born with such as confidence and patience (however we discussed that you can learn some of these qualities).

Next we had a go at leading a game called 'Follow the leader.' In this game we learnt all about verbal and non verbal communication. It is important to use both of these when leading a session with younger children. Next week, we will get another chance to lead our classmates in some different games and sports.
