World book day with Year 2
Thursday 02 Mar 2017 00:00am
Wow, we have had a fantastic World Book Day 2017! The day started with us all going to the hall to show off the wonderful costumes we were wearing. Even the teachers got involved! Once we had shown off costumes, we went to year 2 to listen to a story. Mr Smith read The Scarecrow's Wedding to us (Mr Smith and Mrs Thompson were dressed up as the main characters). Mrs Thompson then told us about what we were going to be doing this morning.
We were split into 2 groups, with half staying in Year 2 and half going to Year 5, and design our own scarecrows. After this, we then made our own scarecrows as guests for the scarecrow wedding. First we had to attach 2 poles together in a cross shape. Then we put the shirt across the top pole. Once we had tied the arms and base of the shirt, we stuffed it with straw. After this, we did the same with the trousers. We then attached the head (a stuffed plastic bag with a paper plate face) on to the scarecrows. We had great fun this World Book Day!
