Zoolab attendance incentive

Today, 20 of our class went to the community room to have their treat for having 100% attendance for the last 3 weeks. Once in the community room, Caz, from Zoolab, told us all about the different animals we would be seeing and that these animals were all the types we would find in the rainforest.
First, she talked about the animals you might find on the ground and showed us a tarantula (we weren't allowed to hold it, much to Mr Smith's dismay!) and a giant millipede. We did get a chance to hold this one! It felt like a mini massage for our hands!
Next, we were shown Bobby, who was a white tree frog. We were confused as the frog was actually green! But Caz explained that the reason it is called a white tree frog is not because of it's colour but because the man who discovered it in the wild was called Mr White. So really, it should be White tree frog as it is a proper noun! We found out an amazing fact about frogs, even Mr Smith didn't know it, frogs do not swallow with their tongue because it is too far forward. They actually use their eye balls to swallow their food down. Amazing!
Then we met flapjack, a bearded dragon. He was huge and very friendly. (sadly we didn't get a picture of him as we were so busy stroking him). Then we got to see a snake! This was a python. Caz assured us that we were very safe as he doesn't like eating children, only mice! Many of us got to have a hold. It was an excellent attendance incentive, we hope we get to do it again one day.
