Stepping into the Stone Age
Friday 09 Feb 2018 00:00am
On Tuesday afternoon, year 6 stepped back into the Stone Age. Kelly, from Wakefield Museum, came to deliver a workshop linked to our topic for this term.
To start off with, we made a human timeline, showing just how long ago the stone age actually happened. We learnt that that Stone Age began 700,000 years ago!
We then talked about how Stone Age people were the first known humans on the earth, and they had to use the land and nature to make everything they needed for survival.
Each table then got 1 item to examine. There was fur, leather, bone, wood and stone and we had to decide what the purpose of each item was and which we thought was the most important for survival.
Kelly then introduced us to some real stone age artefacts! We looked at different things and discussed what they were made off and how they might have been used. We had some really interesting discussions about how we thought they were used!
We all had a really interesting afternoon and learnt so much about the earliest humans and how they survived.
All the adults were really proud of how well behaved and respectful year 6 were! Well Done!
