The Flintstones

Year 6 have been studying The Flintstones this half term. All of the children have really enjoyed the experience. Over the last couple of weeks they have been part of 2 workshops provided by Wakefield Museum Services. The first was about The Stone Age and we were lucky enough to be able to handle artefacts that were 500 000 years old! The final workshop was about an iron age chariot. The children saw a real life chariot which had been found in Ferrybridge. Then they had the opportunity to make their own chariots out of card, 4 axles, 2 wheels and some string. Working in groups the children collaborated well and devised a chariot that had to be successful and run across the length of the museum. After an initial trial the groups made alterations and there were significant improvements. Well done Year 6 - you did a brilliant job!
